Physician Assistant

Amanda “Anoele” Perillo is a board-certified physician assistant at Exceptional Health who has worked alongside Dr. Karen T. Isselbacher since 2016. For nearly a decade, she has been a trusted clinical partner in the care of their patients, helping to deliver the personalized, attentive care that defines the practice. Anoele plays an integral role in day-to-day patient care, offering a steady and responsive presence grounded in thoughtful, individualized attention.

Anoele’s clinical work centers on internal medicine and primary care, including same-day visits, preventive care, women’s health, chronic condition management, diagnostic evaluation, and coordination with specialists. She is known for her ability to synthesize complex clinical information efficiently, recognize what matters most in a patient’s presentation, and develop clear, practical plans of care. Patients value her measured judgment, compassionate communication, and the reassurance that comes from feeling heard and well supported.

Before accepting her first clinical roles in the United States, Anoele moved to Uganda, where she opened an HIV/AIDS clinic and provided community health education. This experience strengthened her commitment to accessible care, prevention, patient education, and the importance of understanding health within the broader context of each community.

Anoele subsequently developed a broad surgical background in orthopedic and cardiothoracic surgery. She began her clinical career at Lenox Hill Hospital and Hospital for Special Surgery in New York as physician assistant to the Chief of Arthroplasty, where she assisted with hip and knee replacement surgery, performed joint injections and aspirations, and helped manage a high-volume orthopedic clinic. She later practiced cardiothoracic surgery at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Her responsibilities included inpatient and intensive care management, surgical first assistance, chest tube management, preoperative evaluations, urgent postoperative care, and survivorship planning for patients treated for thoracic cancers. This experience continues to inform her comprehensive and clinically precise approach to primary care.

Anoele completed her post-baccalaureate premedical training at New York University and earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Pace University.

Outside of medicine, Anoele enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and two dogs. She is an avid artist who enjoys painting and weaving, a passionate home cook, and a devoted bread maker. She also enjoys gardening, traveling, and has a particular fondness for peonies.
